On the 25th May GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) comes into effect, and will require significant changes to the way retailers collect, store, and use data. Failure to be ready could have major ramifications for businesses.
Emily has spent more than seven years in the marketing industry, working in an eclectic mix of sectors, from construction to tourism and leisure to retail. Having enjoyed success both agency and client side, her current role is marketing manager of international sports equipment retailer, Net World Sports. Recently awarded a ‘Mark of Excellence’ at this year’s Retail Week Awards in the ‘International Growth Retailer of the Year’ category, GDPR is being rolled out on an international scale for the business.
Laura is data protection officer at Bathstore, having previously worked within management roles across its customer services and operations functions, focussing on continuous improvement across the business. Laura has worked in the retail sector for 12 years in various roles and prior to Bathstore worked in buying for Homebase and customer services for Magnet Kitchen.
Ian is a regional instructional designer at Sage, which involves writing and delivering customer training. Ian is currently acting as a subject matter expert on the GDPR at Sage and delivering live webinars to Sage customers. In his previous 15 years at Sage, Ian has also worked in internal training, people development coaching, onsite and telephone support
James is head of commercial content operations for Retail Week Connect, where he is responsible for the day to day operations management and content output. James has spent 10 years as a journalist, working across both consumer celebrity and lifestyle magazines and business trade titles, before joining Retail Week in July 2017. James will be your presenter on the day.
